Poetic Lakeside Living at Lakeside Cloud House

Inspired by the philosophy of "living and traveling in nature," the Lakeside Yunlu Life Experience Hall embodies a harmonious blend of poetry and humanity. At Simon Chong Design, we aimed to create a space that celebrates the beautiful symbiosis of culture, nature, and design. This project is more than just aesthetics; it's about fostering an emotional connection between people and their environment

For the Greentown Lakeside Yunlu Life Experience Center in Jining, our team focused on creating a spatial aesthetic that resonates with both nature and human experience. Our principal Simon Chong shares, “The core of design is to create an emotional dialogue between people and space, not just a visual sensory enjoyment”. This philosophy guided our approach throughout the project.

Drawing Inspiration from Tradition and Modernity

The design draws inspiration from classical oriental philosophy, seamlessly integrated with contemporary lifestyle elements. By employing the design method of "living in nature," we aimed to outline a simple yet ethereal poetic dwelling through the extension of space and the thoughtful selection of materials.

Creating a Harmonious Atmosphere

The main space features a soothing beige palette, complemented by brown acrylic "tree stump" table legs and cotton and linen fabric seats. These delicate textures add depth and hierarchy to the space, creating a warm and understated sense of luxury.

Balancing Freedom and Order

Within the space, a suspended round chandelier and a flowing grille structure interact, defining areas without obstructing the visual flow. Simon emphasizes, "The semi-isolated space design allows residents to feel the ingenious balance between freedom and order, much like the coexistence of reality and illusion pursued in traditional Chinese aesthetics”.

Infusing Natural Elements

Natural elements are thoughtfully incorporated throughout the design: cloud-like chandeliers, poetic pine and cypress bonsai, and circular decorations reminiscent of ink paintings. These ornaments reflect the inspiration and philosophy of nature. In the water bar area, pleated decorations evoke a landscape painting under a bright full moon, sparking the imagination.

The Play of Light

The use of light is a key design highlight. Natural light filters through the window grilles, creating a soft, hazy beauty indoors. In the Yueying Bookstore, emotional soft light and exquisite ornaments intertwine to create a haven for the soul.

"Design is not only an art but also a life attitude that makes people feel belonging and relaxed," Simon concludes. The Lakeside Yunlu Life Experience Hall uses a simple and profound design language to provide users with a poetic space experience that combines nature and modern aesthetics, representing a low-key yet luxurious resonance between humanity and nature.
